Roar created this exhibition based on the Conviction Politics ARC project. This exhibition tells a new story of convict Australia. Highlighting the experiences of the dispossessed poor, political radicals and First Nations resistors, it debunks the common misconception of convicts as passive victims. Unshackled melds traditional museum presentation with engaging, digital storytelling to chart the emergence of Australia’s democratic institutions and egalitarian national identity.
